“Passing It On – An Evening of Mentorship to Benefit Rosie’s Theater Kids”

Rosie’s Theater Kids, an organization dedicated to educating New York City based children about the arts, held “Passing It On” on Tuesday, March 27. The evening featured performances the children learned with mentors that include Audra McDonald, BD Wong, Brandon Victor Dixon, Dana Moore, and Derick K Grant, among others. The show was performed at Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater. Along with the featuring the children performing, the evening honored Tom Viola, Executive Director of Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS. The evening’s performances included a musical play/game organized by BD Wong, a rendition of “42nd Street,” original Fosse choreography, and a a rousing rendition of “Let Your Freak Flag Wave” from Shrek.After the performances, the RTK Junior Board hosted an after-party for the junior contingent at a penthouse apartment owned by Tony Award-winning producer Paul Boskind. Formed in 2010, the RTK Junior Board’s mission is to engage with the 21-40 year old demographic in New York City, through fundraising, advocacy, volunteer work, and social events benefiting Rosie’s Theater Kids. The evening featured live performances with RTK’s Musical Director Steven Jamail on the piano accompanying Katie Rose Clarke (formerly Glinda in WICKED on Broadway) and Anna Maria Perez de Tagle (currently in GODSPELL on Broadway).The RTKids Junior Board includes Elizabeth Clinard (chair), Faisal Al-Juburi, Matt Butler, Alyson Campbell, Nathaniel Casey, Amanda Goetz, and Matthew Naclerio.
