Wallace Shawn's THE FEVER performed by David Shapiro

A one-night performance of the award-winning play "The Fever" by Wallace Shawn will be presented at Revolution Books as a benefit to save this unique bookstore. When actor David Shapiro introduced "The Fever" to Chicago in 1995, Shawn said, "I wish I could have done it like David did, but I didn't know how."The Chicago Reader wrote: "...one of the most memorable off-Loop theater experiences of the 1990s." This production was also performed at La Mama Theater. From an article on "The Fever" in American Theatremagazine:"Recalling the onset of illness in a Third World hotel bathroom, the narrator tells about his privileged childhood, his elitist adulthood, and his gradual realization that he must share responsibility for his society's immorality.... You can react to Shawn's play in one of two ways -- you can get angry, or you can reevaluate your life."The $45 ticket will help raise the $40,000 needed by the end of the summer to save Revolution Books -- the one place people can come to from all over the world to find the books and engagement about why the world is the way it is and how it can be radically different."Revolution Books is much more than a bookstore. It is the center of a movement for the emancipation of humanity. How many of those do we have, even in New York City?"- You can buy tickets on our website, or call the bookstore. Don't wait until July 26. Space is limited.
